for all my latest work!

I am a video game artist working primarily with environment assets, set dressing, particle effects, and materials/textures.
Realistic Environment Team Project
In this project we (myself, Shaun Ellis, and Brian Harries) are creating a space in UDK that uses realistic assets and has some sort of visual narrative. We chose to do a drydock with a HUGE ship in it, populating the space with a bunch of construction items and equipment. I did an initial concept sketch of what I wanted to space to feel like:
We then made a list of all the assets we thought should populate the space, and began working. I was responsible for the ship itself, and a lot of filler props and decals. here are some of the assets I worked on:
I decided to focus on optimizing our texture space, so i made a few very repeatable re-usable textures. I stacked as many black and white textures into one 24-bit image, and used our material editor heavily in order to get as much variation from them:
I also created this wood texture which was used in these assets as well as a few others:
I utilized multiple UV layers on some in order to give those assets their own ambient occlusion:
here are the final images of our space:
This project has taught me a lot about the difficulties of working in an intimate team under pressure, but I am glad for the team mates I have. Great work ethics and attitudes combined with complimentary skills makes us a badass team!

photo replica
Another week-project (honestly it was longer than a week, but i only put about a weeks worth of work into it), this time it's a replica of a photo. There are always more things to fix and tweak, but I find working on a tight time schedule keeps you rapidly iterating, and constantly making new stuff based on what you have learned. And that's exactly what I'm in school to do. learn
quickly! So this is like a Russian base thing, with a cart on a rail system.... er.... yes. ENJOY!
modular kit
I made a modular kit on the theme of "subway station." It could have used a couple more pieces, but I only allowed myself about a week to work on this. Then it was on to bigger and better things! without further adieu... on to the pixels!
Fantastic Environment
this was a 5-man team project in which we were tasked with creating a 3D environment that was entirely fantastic. We chose to go with an alien planet concept, in which a mechanical tree is the source of all organic life on this planet. we had three levels, an initial crash site in a desert-like area, a jungle night-time environment, and a mechanical futuristic level. I primarily worked on the middle jungle level, focusing on conceptualizing and creating the plants and particles. All content by Shaun Ellis, Brian Harries, Linnea Harrison, Michael Hosticka, and Clarke Nordhauser. here are some images focusing on my work from the project:
i did a paintover of a greybox back in the prepro phase, just to get a feeling for how populated and lush the environment should feel. here is the before and after:

some 2D work
I have been exploring digital painting much more this semester, so here are a couple of the sketches I've done and works in progress. The environment will eventually be a pitch for a fantastic unrealistic environment for 3D. (ps I LOVE COREL PAINTER NOW!!!)
Here are a few sketches I've done in various traditional media. I love sketching in watercolors or ink.
game theory risk analysis - online gaming.
I have been working together with professor Rutstrom since our last Forest Fire Project on a project that has to do with cooperation and risk in MMORPG's. I'm very interested in how people value online anonymous relationships in groups (particularly in MMORPG's and RTS' and DotA/League of Legends) HERE is a link to a description of our current work.
Low-poly models
In this project, I created some assets to dress a level with. The level was supposed to be from the Favelas in Rio, and thus all the assets were supposed to match that thematically and stylistically. This was an exercise in creating low-poly models with as optimized textures as possible, creating small package file sizes with wide use-ability in the level. Here are a few examples of the pieces I made:
WIP modular character
In this project I have been assigned to create a character with as much modularity as possible. I chose to design a "sniper" chick, here is my wip:
